How ClarityScore Works

A formula, not an opinion.

Most clinic-rating sites either don't explain their score, or the score is really just how much the clinic paid for placement. ClarityScore is a fixed formula out of 100 points, built from two inputs we can actually verify:

1. Accreditation — up to 60 points

A clinic gets 60 points if it holds accreditation from a recognized international body (currently: Joint Commission International, the most widely used standard for cross-border healthcare accreditation) — and only if we can link the specific source we verified it against. Zero points if we can't verify it. This is binary and sourced, not a sliding "quality" judgment.

2. Real patient reviews — up to 40 points

Reviews submitted through ClarityAbroad and approved (moderated for spam/authenticity only — never for sentiment) contribute up to 40 points, scaled by both the average rating and how many reviews exist. A single 5-star review doesn't max this out; confidence ramps up over the first 5 reviews. A clinic with zero reviews gets zero points here, not a default "good" score.

What this means in practice

Most clinics currently show 60/100 — accredited, but not yet reviewed by anyone on this site. That's intentional, not a bug: we'd rather show an honest "not yet rated" than fabricate a number. The score gets more meaningful as real reviews accumulate.

What we don't do

• We don't accept payment to raise a clinic's score or ranking.
• We don't write subjective "great surgeon" copy about any real clinic without a source.
• We don't remove real negative reviews at a clinic's request.

A high ClarityScore means "verifiably accredited, with real patient feedback behind it" — not a guarantee of any outcome. Always verify accreditation independently and get a direct quote before booking.
